چکیده

Methods All patients who underwent stress CMR at ICPS (tests, n = 4589) between November 2009 and September 2010 were identified through the use of the cardiology database. Exclusion criteria included (1) history of documented myocardial infarction (n = 623); (2) prior percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (n = 1335); and (3) prior coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) (n = 264). For patients who underwent multiple tests during this time period (n = 116), only the first test was included. The study population consisted of 2737 patients.

Should we screen for occult coronary artery disease among asymptomatic patients with diabetes?

Diabetes mellitus predisposes people to premature atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD). The risk of a myocardial infarction in diabetics without overt evidence of obstructive CAD matches that of patients without diabetes who have had a previous myocardial infarction. The available data suggest that occult CAD is a common finding among asymptomatic diabetics, ranging from 20% to >50%. T...

Quantitative CMR perfusion imaging identifies reduced flow reserve in microvascular coronary artery disease

Background Patients with angina without obstructive coronary artery disease are increasingly recognized and microvascular disease (MVD) is thought to play a significant role. An abnormal myocardial perfusion reserve (MPR) by positron emission tomography is predictive of increased cardiovascular events, particularly in women, diabetics, and those with metabolic syndrome. We hypothesized that MPR...

Does stress perfusion imaging improve the diagnostic accuracy of late gadolinium enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance for establishing the etiology of heart failure?

BACKGROUND Late gadolinium enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance (LGE-CMR) has excellent specificity, sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy for differentiating between ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) and non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NICM). CMR first-pass myocardial perfusion imaging (perfusion-CMR) may also play role in distinguishing heart failure of ischemic and non-ischemic origins,...

The Assosiation of Carotid Intima-Media Thickness and Ankle Brachial Index with SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Asymptomatic Diabetic Patients

Objective: The risk of cardiac death in diabetic patients is 3 times more than non-diabetics. But it is not determined who need cardiac screening. About 41% of diabetic patients with silent ischemia are missed. the carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and ankel brachial index are two independent, simple and non invasive method in vascular complications diagnosis in diabetic patients. The aim of ...

Clinical value and severity of myocardial perfusion defects in asymptomatic diabetic patients with negative or weakly positive exercise treadmill test

Objective: Although coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death in type 2 diabetic patients, it is frequently asymptomatic. Myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is reported to show ischemia in a significant number of asymptomatic diabetic patients. We studied the prevalence and severity of myocardial perfusion defects in asymptomatic diabetic patients and its clinical impact. Meth...
